Project Estimation Manager - Power Generation

Duties:
  • Develop conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using preliminary design documents for future projects in early development stages.
  • Estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications and performing quantity take offs.
  • Develop contractor’s interest in projects and manage the subcontractor RFP process.
  • Drive the preparation of bid packages, specifically schedule of values and quantities, for engineering and construction projects.
  • Evaluate bid responses received from contractors and subcontractors. 
  • Develop resource loading and evaluate resource loading provided by subcontractors.
  • Maintain and calibrate the construction estimating tool and assist in the preparation of detailed critical path job schedules.
  • Track the market and follow market trends (commodity and labor pricing).
  • Monitor construction process to support the Construction team in responses to change order requests from contractors and subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors in the various markets.
  • Follow Company’s processes and procedures to safely and effectively design and test renewable generating facilities.
  • Maintain a current understanding of renewable generation technology
  • Ensure compliance of self and others on site during construction with federal, state and local laws and with safety and environmental standards, policies and practices.
  • Maintain and calibrate the construction estimating tool. Track the market and follow market trends and upload and refine the tool with the information provided by the Construction Team.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience and or an Engineering or Construction management degree preferred
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to provide training on complex operations
  • Experience with utility scale renewable energy projects or large transmission/substation projects, is a plus
  • Good software skills
