Accounting Manager – Chemical Manufacturing
Elgin, ilOur client, a growing chemical manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead manufacturing cost accounting, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and corporate accounting functions. This role will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial leadership to drive financial performance, improve margins, and support strategic decision-making across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Manage standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, and manufacturing overhead allocations within the ERP system.
- Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material usage, yields, scrap, and production efficiency.
- Partner with plant leadership to identify cost reduction and operational improvement opportunities.
- Support inventory controls, reconciliations, and financial accuracy across manufacturing locations.
- Develop and maintain customer and product pricing models.
- Conduct SKU and customer profitability analysis to identify margin improvement opportunities.
- Support customer bids, contract negotiations, and commercial pricing strategies.
- Monitor raw material cost fluctuations and evaluate financial impact on margins.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and annual operating plans.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards.
- Support external audits and financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain financial and operational data integrity across ERP and manufacturing systems.
- Develop KPI reporting and financial dashboards for leadership teams.
- Support process improvements, reporting automation, and ERP enhancements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5–7+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or corporate accounting.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
